Lost In Desolation

I can see the road before me as it separates the hills
But there is not a soul beside me just the bitting windy chills
I can feel the dirt below me as I shuffle step by step
And can see the desert mountains where no human path has crept

I'm lost in desolation and as loud as I might cry
Not a single soul would hear me from across the Great Divide

I can see the world around me, recall the prairies and the plains
The horizons and the shorelines as the tides would wax and wane
But now I see no people, nor a flower or a bird
I can feel the wind beside me tho it does not say a word

I'm lost in desolation and as loud as I might cry
Not a single soul would hear me from across the Great Divide

I can smell the dusty dryness as it permeates the air
With not a single drop of water to be tasted anywhere
I can see the road before me as it meanders to and fro
While I'm lost in desolation wondering which way I should go

I'm lost in desolation and as loud as I might cry
Not a single soul would hear me from across the Great Divide
